Learning about Ebola

I have learned quite a bit of things with this Ebola project. I found out that the main strategy that our class discovered was to get rid of Ebola by quarantining the people that have it till they no longer have it or have died from it. I think that there are many other ways that are better and that the government is preparing a strategy incase an outbreak were to happen in the United States. I never knew that the Ebola virus started from the fruit bat and that it can spread from many different animals. I also did not know that Ebola has been around Africa for a long time, and wonder why it all of a sudden broke out. I do not think that Ebola will break out in the United States and I think in the next couple of years that Ebola will be controlled and almost gone. I think that it spread quickly in West Africa, because they are a third world country and do not have as good of a health and medical care as other countries. If they did have better care I think that they would have contained it before it did break out.

Globalization and Ebola

Ebola is a major virus that is affecting the world. It is even affect countries that do not have any sight of the Ebola virus in their country. Most people do not realize that the chances of getting the Ebola virus is extremely slim, unless you are in West Africa. Many people in the world are preparing for the outbreak in their country. They are buying hazmat suits to protect them from getting the Ebola virus. Although it is a good thing for all countries to know about this disease and to start taking precautions, like screening people that are coming into the country. The countries government does need to tell people not to worry a lot about this, so people do not get to worked up and take thing to an extreme measure. The people do need to know what the symptoms are of this virus, so if they were to get it they would know and be able to get medical attention right away. Since a cure for this virus has not yet been made countries have to get together and figure out a cure to stop this disease, in case it were to spread and break out in other countries.

Sicko Movie Review

Over the last couple days we watched Sicko by Michael Moore. It is about health care and how North America is the only country in the Northern Hemisphere that still has to pay for their health care. He goes to Canada, France, Britain, and Cuba to see how their health care is. In all the countries that he went to they all had free health care. He found out that their medicine is way cheaper in those countries than it is in the United States. He visited a family that had a new born baby in France. The family had a nanny, they did not have to pay anything for the nanny. The nanny would do anything that you asked them to do. He also went to Cuba and found out that the people in Guantanamo bay prison and found that they get all the health care they want for free. I do not think that prisoners should have better health care than us.

I think that the United States needs to do something to the health care system. The prices are way too high for most people in the middle class to pay. Some families can not get health insurance from companies because the company denies them for one little thing has happened to them.

Human Trafficking
Human trafficking is a huge problem worldwide. People think that slavery ended when President Abraham Lincoln passed the 13th amendment that abolished slavery. Well that really never did end it people just became stealthier about slavery and trafficking them.
We watched a lot of videos about Human Trafficking. I found all of these videos very interesting. I learned new things about human trafficking. I found out how they used website to sell women and how they used the key word escort to make it harder for them to get caught. I also learned that once you are trafficked there is no getting out of it. Your life is pretty much over from there on.
People caught for human trafficking should have to spend the rest of their life in prison and helping spread the word about human trafficking. They should have to help by showing presentations to schools and colleges, telling them what to look for, for signs of human trafficking so they know and can contact the authorities to stop it before it happens.
Human Trafficking is a serious thing in the world and I think that the government should be focusing on this more than the selling of illegal guns on the black market and illegal drug trafficking. Drugs and guns are just things and are not human beings. I think that saving lives of human is more important than stopping illegal gun and drug sales and trafficking.

Women and Globalization

Globalization has affected men and women greatly it has improved many of their lives, making it better for them to find better jobs that make more money to make their lives easier. Some people think that women do not get the same rights as men. To some extent I think that this is true and I think that people need to become aware of this and do something about it.

On http://wscpedia.org it says. “In the last 2 decades globalization has affected the lives of women in the developing nations”. If it only affects women in developing nations will they only have as many right as woman have today in developed countries. In Asia women work in export industries for cheap labor, since that is what the society imposes them to do. Men have always been the family member that has had the easy job that pays great, while women work in a sweatshop and barely make any money for as much as they do. So with this economic influence it has affected the employment opportunities in developing countries.

Something definitely needs to be done about this. It needs to be changed in developing countries right away before it becomes permanent in their economy. Women deserve more right than they are given in the developing countries.
